Principal's Message

Dear St. Matthew Families,

Jesus Christ, the Word made Flesh, is the center and the purpose of our school.

For 95 years, the Cathedral School of Saint Matthew has provided our families with an outstanding academic education and rich faith formation rooted in Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Holy Catholic Church. We are committed to promoting the development of every child by educating their mind, heart, and spirit in preparation for a lifetime of learning, service to others, and our primary goal - heaven!

Through weekly Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Mission Friday, preK-8 pilgrimages (faith-based field trips), sacramental preparation, service projects, Catholic clubs, daily prayer, and daily living, our Catholic Identity is at the heart of all we do. Our students learn to cherish and live their faith by growing as learners in the presence of God and in communion with others.

The Cathedral School of Saint Matthew offers a strong curriculum beginning with preschool and continuing through eighth grade.  We engage a Catholic Liberal Arts curriculum embracing the richness of our Catholic tradition in education. As Archbishop J. Michael Miller wrote in his document, The Holy See's Teaching on Catholic Schools, "The enduring foundation on which the Church builds her educational philosophy is the conviction that it is a process which forms the whole child, especially with his or her eyes fixed on the vision of God. The specific purpose of a Catholic education is the formation of boys and girls who will be good citizens of this world, enriching society with the leaven of the Gospel, but who will also be citizens of the world to come. Catholic schools have a straightforward goal: to foster the growth of good Catholic human beings who love God and neighbor and thus fulfill their destiny of becoming saints."

Our community is blessed with dedicated and professional teachers, religious sisters, priests, and staff who work cooperatively to embrace the call to love and nurture each student every step of the way.

Thank you for considering the Cathedral School of Saint Matthew for your family. We look forward to meeting you soon. Learn more about our Admissions process and please join us for a tour.

May God bless you and your family,
