Choosing a Confirmation Sponsor

Confirmation Sponsors must meet the following requirements:

• Faithful, practicing Catholic in word and deed
• Attends Sunday Mass weekly
• Has received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation
• If married, must be married in the Catholic Church
• At least 16 years old
• Not a parent of the person to be Confirmed
• Godparents generally are great choices for Sponsors, as they reflect the relationship between Baptism and Confirmation
